An Artist's Eye on Knowlton Street

Artist's Statement:

This series of relief prints depicts scenes along Knowlton Street in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati, where I maintained a studio for several years. Nearly every weekday, as I walked or bicycled along the street, I had the leisure to observe homes, factories, businesses, a neighborhood bar, two organic gardens, a bicycle co-op, an art studio, a storefront church and a funeral home all within four blocks. I was fascinated with the strange and perhaps under-appreciated beauty of this rather chaotic street. In creating these works I deepened my own appreciation and learned a lot about two-color relief printing. I am grateful for the support of the Individual Artists Grant from the City of Cincinnati.
